On the 19th November 1994, the National Lottery drew its very first ball. Then five minutes later, a very young live duo called Essence started singing at their very first wedding. Twenty years later and after over 1650 weddings/functions, we’re still at the top of our game having recently won the 2013 “Best Live Wedding Entertainment” in the Wedding Industry Awards and the Essex Wedding Award ‘Best Live Music Act’. Proving we’ve never become complacent.
The natural progression
In 2007 such was our duo's popularity we received over 2000 additional enquiries for dates that were already booked. We were constantly recommending alternatives but also many people also asked if we could recommend musicians such as harpists, string quartets and jazz bands etc. As we’d worked alongside literally hundreds of other musicians we were in the perfect position to help.
In 2008 we formed the ‘Essence’ Music Agency (EMA) and continued to grow our reputation for quality (unlike most agents we’d actually seen all the musicians that we recommend). Such is our reputation, we now judge for three of the UK's largest independent music competitions often judging over 100 musical acts in a day. Therefore bands and musicians need to be EXCEPTIONAL to stand out to us.
We know all the venues too!
EMA can offer a much higher level of expertise than anyone else. We know the best bands and musicians from working alongside them and competitions PLUS we've first hand experience of virtually every venue in the South East or England from performing there ourselves.
…And we’re still competitive!
The biggest misconception is that professional musicians of this calibre are more expensive. However by the time a semi-professional or a part-timer has taken time off work for a wedding they often work out much the same. Try us - you’ll be impressed and most importantly you’ll relax knowing your musicians are going to be in another class of quality altogether.
All our musicians share our belief that they are a ‘service’ to you the paying customer. They all love what they do and will bend over backwards to be as helpful and accommodating as possible to exceed your expectations.
